1. VSD 5.4.2 Release Notes

Overview

Visual Statistics Display (VSD) version 5.4.2 is a maintenance release of the VSD product. v5.4.1 was a limited distribution release; these Release Notes includes all fixes in both 5.4.1 and 5.4.2.

In addition to bug fixes, there are additional statistics definitions, for statistics added in recent server releases.

This version of VSD, like previous versions, supports statmonitor files generated from:

Supported Platforms

VSD version 5.4.2 is verified and supported on the following platforms:

32-bit VSD executables no longer distributed

32-bit VSD executables are no longer generated or distributed with GemStone/S 64 Bit releases nor as independent downloads. All VSD executables are now 64-bit.

With VSD v5.4 and GemStone/S 64 Bit v3.5, the 32-bit executables VSD executables were generated and available, but deprecated.

Changes in this release

A number of statistics definitions have been added, to support cache statistics added in unreleased versions of GemStone/S 64 Bit.

VSD command line cannot load files containing ’-h’ or other arguments

If a filename passed in on the vsd command line contains the character sequence ’-h’, ’-H’, ’-v’, or ’-V’, it is interpreted as the command line argument for the help screen or version information, and VSD does not start. (#48316)

Loading a truncated, gzipped statistics file crashes VSD

If a gzipped statistics file being loaded into VSD is truncated, VSD did not handle the error from the gz function correctly, and crashed with a SEGV. (#48393)
